EP means Extended Play.
LP means Long Play or Long Playing.
A play is a single record or song, an extended play (EP) is a commercially released collection of music that has 2-8 songs. A Long Play or A Long Playing (LP) album will have 8 to an unlimited amount of songs.
So the difference between an EP and LP is that an EP has fewer songs than an LP would.
